Suffolk Befriending Scheme
The Suffolk Befriending Scheme provides trained volunteers as ‘special friends’
known as Befrienders for adults with learning disabilities, on a one to one basis.
The Port Community Fund awarded a grant of £5,260 to support training and expenses
for 15 volunteers.

Outreach Service
Felixstowe Town Pastors
The Port Community Fund awarded a grant of £2,000 towards the cost of renting radios,
renewal of Liability Insurance, and a Co-ordinator’s salary.
This group provides help and support to vulnerable people on the streets of Felixstowe
in the evenings, thereby promoting responsible drinking, deterring criminal damage
and anti-social behaviour.

Youth Programme
Level 2 Youth Project
The Level 2 Youth Project provides a range of services designed to promote the personal
and social development of young people of High School age.
An award of £2,000 was granted by the Port Community Fund towards youth worker costs
for providing one to one mentoring sessions for young people with problems.

Health and Wellbeing
Suffolk Coastal Cruse Bereavement Care
This organisation provides support to bereaved people to enable them to cope with
their loss.
£2,000 was awarded by the Port Community Fund towards volunteer, telephone and training
costs, to continue to provide support to bereaved people in the Felixstowe area.

Advice and Information
Alzheimer’s Society - East Suffolk Services
The Alzheimer’s Society - East Suffolk Services provide information and support
to individuals and families affected by dementia in East and Mid Suffolk.
A grant of £1,938 was awarded by the Port Community Fund towards the cost of establishing
a Peer Support Group for people with dementia and their carers in Felixstowe.

Disability Advice Service (East Suffolk)
The Disability Advice Service (East Suffolk) works to improve the quality of life of disabled people by promoting the uptake of welfare benefits and providing free, impartial advice and information about the help and support available to them.
The Felixstowe Port Community Fund awarded a grant of £1,000 towards the annual running costs of services provided to Felixstowe residents.

BikeActive
A grant of £1,050 was awarded by the Felixstowe Port Community Fund as a contribution towards the annual running costs of BikeActive.
This group works to improve the health and wellbeing of adults with a wide range of both lifelong and acquired disabilities.

Workshop for arthritis sufferers
Arthritis Care
Arthritis Care helps people control their arthritis and lead productive and as near normal lives as possible.
The Felixstowe Port Community Fund awarded a grant of £2,000 as a contribution towards a self-management workshop to give 18 Felixstowe residents the skills and techniques to manage their chronic pain.

Outreach service
Felixstowe Citizens Advice Bureau
Free, impartial, comprehensive, confidential and professional information, advice and advocacy services are provided to residents of Felixstowe and the surrounding districts by Felixstowe Citizens Advice Bureau.
The Felixstowe Port Community Fund awarded a grant of £2,000 towards the annual running costs of the CAB’s outreach service for clients who are unable to visit the bureau, often because of poor public transport from rural areas.

New weekly playgroup
Autism Suffolk
A grant of £3,132 was awarded by the Felixstowe Port Community Fund to set up and run a weekly playgroup in Felixstowe for children with autistic spectrum disorder.
The grant was awarded to Autism Suffolk, which provides services, support and representation to families and carers across Suffolk who have children aged five to 13 with autistic spectrum disorder.
